The Coalition for Just Reparations (C4JR), with the support of IOM Iraq, is publishing regular newsletters on the Yazidi Survivors’ Law (YSL) in three languages: English, Arabic, and Kurdish (Sorani and Kurmanji).
Welcome to the Ninth issue of the C4JR Newsletter, where we share important updates and progress in implementing the Yazidi Survivors’ Law (YSL).

Key Updates:
- Reparations Delivered: 2,228 survivors have received reparations, marking significant progress in implementing the YSL.
- Remote Testimonies for Survivors Abroad: Survivors in Germany (Berlin, Frankfurt) and France (Paris) can now provide testimonies via video conferencing, improving access to justice for those living abroad.
- Education Support: 16 survivors have returned to school, reclaiming opportunities for personal growth and stability.
- Land Ownership Secured: Survivors are being granted residential plots, promoting stability and security for the future.
- Rehabilitation Centers: Facilities in Mosul and Sinjar are set to provide psychological rehabilitation and other critical services to survivors and their families.
- Campaign to Locate and Liberate Abductees: A nationwide campaign is actively gathering information on missing persons, with financial rewards for tips leading to rescues.

Accountability Efforts:
- Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL) has drafted legislation to address international crimes, to be presented to the Kurdistan parliament in January 2025.
Challenges:
Survivors face dilemmas between public-sector employment and retaining reparations benefits, a pressing issue that C4JR urges the Iraqi government to resolve.
